Sue Bedford, the founder of Pulse Health Screening, qualified as a Registered Nurse in 1980. She worked in a variety of specialities in both NHS and private hospitals in London over the following years. In 1987, she moved to Bedford and took a 10 year career break to have her four children.
Sue undertook a Return to Nursing course in 1998, initially working in the Outpatients department at Bedford Hospital in the Gastro-Intestinal, Colo-Rectal and Breast Clinics. Whilst there, she completed a diploma course in Health Promotion at the University of Luton. Her passion for health screening came about when she took up a Practice Nurse post, which also led to her interest in cardiovascular health.
Sue left the surgery in 2002 to do medicals on a freelance basis for insurance companies. During this time, she also completed a diploma course in Nutrition. Much as she loved the health screening aspect of her work, it was not in her remit to provide health advice to the clients.
Therefore, Sue set up Pulse Health Screening, offering a wide range of health and wellbeing services and talks which include diet and lifestyle advice. Her clients consist of individuals wishing to improve their health, through to companies requiring health and wellbeing services for their staff.
As an enthusiastic researcher, Sue frequently writes articles for magazines and blogs on a variety of health topics. She has written two ebooks based on her research and experience to date. One is on breast health called How to Keep Your Breasts Healthy and the other is called Choosing a Healthy Diet and Lifestyle.
